What is Zinga? How does it work?

What is Zinga?

ZINGA is a one component zinc rich coating or Film Galvanising System containing 96% zinc (dust) in its dry film. It is a metallic coating and not a paint. The purity of the zinc used is so high that dry ZINGA does not contain any toxic elements.

ZINGA is a unique form of corrosion protection because it provides both Active and Passive protection in a form that’s as easy to apply as a paint.

ZINGA was originally invented at the University of Ghent (UGent), Belgium, in the 1970s and has since been used in a wide variety of projects throughout the world.

How can it be used?

1. Stand alone system

ZINGA provides equivalent protection to traditional galvanizing without requiring a topcoat. It can be overcoated without complex preparation, maintaining the integrity of the coating.

2. As primer in a duplex & triplex system

ZINGA and topcoats work together to extend the system’s lifespan. The ZINGA layer begins to sacrifice only when the topcoat is compromised.

3. As shop primer

ZINGA can be applied as a factory primer with a thickness of 30-40 µm, requiring no re-blasting before topcoating.

4. Repair for worn and damaged hot-dip galvanized or metal sprayed structures

ZINGA can “recharge” old galvanized structures after proper surface cleaning.

5. On rebars

ZINGA is used in construction on rebar before assembly and embedding, offering corrosion protection without affecting tensile strength.

ZINGA is designed to withstand a wide range of environmental conditions, making it a reliable choice for any project. Trust ZINGA to keep your ferrous metals protected and extend their lifespan.
